Booking & Safety
Booking & Safety at THE TRUTH IN COLOUR™
Clarity before commitment. Safety before service.
At
THE TRUTH IN COLOUR™ — Newcastle upon Tyne, booking is structured and intentional.
Our policies exist to protect your hair, your time, and the integrity of the results we deliver.
Every service is carried out within clear professional guidelines — from consultation and testing, to booking procedures, cancellations, and aftercare requirements.
This is not about restriction.
It is about responsibility, transparency, and delivering results without compromise.
All services are subject to consultation, suitability, and professional assessment.
If a service is not safe, appropriate, or achievable, we will not proceed.
This page explains how booking works, why safety protocols exist, and what is required before any appointment is confirmed.
Our Approach to Booking
At
THE TRUTH IN COLOUR™ — Newcastle, booking is not transactional.
It is a structured process designed to protect hair health, manage expectations, and deliver consistent, high-level results.
Every appointment is planned with intention — based on consultation, suitability, and the time required to work correctly.
We do not overbook, rush services, or compromise safety to fit schedules.
Consultation Before Booking
Most technical services require a consultation before an appointment can be confirmed. A consultation allows us to assess your hair, colour history, and suitability for services such as advanced colour correction or bespoke colour work.
This allows us to:
- Assess hair and scalp condition
- Review colour, chemical, and treatment history
- Determine suitability and realistic outcomes
- Plan time, technique, and product selection accurately
If a consultation has not taken place, we may not be able to proceed with your service.
Patch Testing & Test Services
Patch Testing
Patch testing is mandatory where required by manufacturer guidelines or professional standards.
This includes (but is not limited to):
- Colour services
- Certain scalp or treatment services
- Clients with known sensitivities or medical considerations
Patch tests must be completed within the required timeframe before your appointment.
Without a valid patch test, we cannot legally or ethically proceed.
Test Strands / Test Services
For corrective, texture, or chemically complex services, a test strand or preliminary service may be required.
This helps us:
- Assess how the hair responds
- Protect integrity and condition
- Avoid unpredictable outcomes
Test services are part of responsible planning — not optional extras.
Booking Deposits & Appointment Confirmation
To secure appointment time, preparation, and professional planning, a booking deposit is required for all services at THE TRUTH IN COLOUR™ — Newcastle.
Deposits allow us to:
- Confirm commitment to the appointment
- Protect allocated diary time
- Prepare appropriately for your service
- Maintain a calm, unrushed schedule for every client
All appointments require a minimum 50% deposit at the time of booking.
For longer, group, or highly technical services, a higher deposit may be required. This will always be confirmed clearly before your booking is finalised.
Appointment Timing
All appointment times are arrival times, not guaranteed start times.
We schedule services carefully and aim to run on time, however certain services may require additional care or time.
If this occurs, we extend the same consideration to every client — including you.
Cancellation & Rescheduling
Due to the time, preparation, and professional planning required for our services, we operate a strict cancellation and rescheduling policy.
This policy allows us to:
- Protect allocated appointment time
- Maintain fair scheduling for our team
- Offer availability responsibly to other clients
48-HourNotice Period
We require a minimum of 48 hours’ notice for any cancellation or rescheduling.
Notice must be given during salon opening hours. Late notice impacts our ability to reallocate time responsibly.
Cancellations Outside 48 Hours
If you cancel or reschedule more than 48 hours before your appointment:
- Your deposit will be transferred to a rescheduled booking, or
- Refunded to the original payment method where applicable
Cancellations Within 48 Hours
If you cancel or reschedule within 48 hours, your deposit will be retained.
This applies regardless of reason, as preparation and diary time have already been committed.
Failure to Attend
If you fail to attend your appointment without notice:
- The full service cost may be charged
- Future appointments may require a 100% deposit at the time of booking
Repeated failure to attend may result in refusal of future bookings.
Late Arrival
Appointment times are scheduled carefully. If you arrive late, your service may need to be adjusted or rescheduled to avoid compromising safety or the experience of other clients.
Where insufficient time remains to complete the service correctly, the appointment may be treated as a late cancellation.
These policies are not punitive.
They exist to ensure fairness, professionalism, and the quality of service every client expects.
Client Information
Full client details are required at the time of booking for identification, consultation records, and insurance compliance. These standards ensure every service is delivered with consultation-led care and structured professional accountability.
Failure to provide the required information may result in refusal of service.
Professional Standards & Accountability
At THE TRUTH IN COLOUR™ — Newcastle, every service is carried out to defined professional standards.
- We allocate the correct time.
- We use professional-only products.
- We document consultations and technical decisions.
- We prioritise hair integrity and long-term results over short-term outcomes.
If something does not meet the agreed plan, we will review it properly and address it.
Our Approach to Resolution
If you have any concerns regarding your service, please contact the salon within 7 days of your appointment.
This allows us to review the work while consultation records, colour formulations, and technical details remain current.
Any necessary refinement will be assessed professionally and carried out where appropriate.
Resolution is based on the original consultation plan and agreed outcome — not subsequent changes in preference.
Services Against Professional Advice
If you choose to proceed against professional advice, we will document this clearly before beginning.
In some cases, we may refuse a service if it compromises:
- Hair integrity
- Client safety
- Professional standards
Our responsibility is to protect both you and your hair — not simply to perform a requested service.
Professional standards are not optional. They define how we work.
Begin With the Consultation
The consultation is where clarity begins. It allows us to assess, plan,
and recommend a considered path forward — without pressure or obligation.
